… but I’m watching Good Morning Vietnam.

Up too late on a Sunday night (again). Could theoretically be in bed by now, eyes shut, having read a book for 30 minutes, but instead am tapping away on my macbook, listening to tunes, ticking off Do’s and staring at a screen (again)… BUT! But. There is a but, and it’s a real good but, I swear. It’s the kind of but that justifies all manner of ridiculous hours kept, the kind of but that makes sense to so many, particularly in light of recent sad events (RIP RW). The kind of but that I really think justifies staying up another short while at least. Wait for it…

Like A Version has been going strong on Friday mornings at your favourite radio station for nigh on a decade now.

It’s where the coolest names in the biz get a chance to play a favourite cover on live radio, and it’s simultaneously recorded by the expert team that records sound and video stuffs at the Js.

I can't make you love my cover

The art of the cover – that which can make a song come alive or kill it stone dead. Nothing is more divisive. When it’s done good, it’s special. When its done badly, it’s traumatic – like watching someone belt up a loved one.

Today is a Sunday, and on a Sunday I love nothing more than to hibernate and watch youtube clips. Especially conducive to Sunday youtube sessions is Bon Iver. Nothing screams end-of-the-weekend moping like Vernon. Read the rest of this entry »
